The Temple Mount
The Temple Mount, or Har HaBayit, is the holiest site in the world! It is unlike any other place, anywhere on earth. No building, synagogue or study hall, no grave (kever) of a righteous individual (kivrei tzaddikim), not even the Western Wall (Kotel) can compare to the level of holiness of the Temple Mount. Located on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem - the eternal capital of the State of Israel and the biblical homeland of the Jewish people - the Temple Mount was set aside as the holiest site since the dawn of time. According to Jewish tradition, it is here that God's divine presence (Shekhinah) is manifested and where creation began. It is here that Adam - the first man - built the first altar in service to God and where Jacob, upon waking up from his dream of angels ascending on a ladder, proclaimed, “How awesome is this place! This is the house of God and the gateway to heaven!” And that is why the Temple Mount is, and will always be, a house of prayer for all nations!
